Kinect Review

This Microsoft Kinect review shall focus on exploring the pros and cons of this motion sensing input device. It is an incredible add-on peripheral for Xbox 360. The device includes a depth camera, an RGB VGA camera and a multi-array microphone (for voice recognition).

Both the cameras have 640 x 480 pixel resolution. Kinect features an accurate full body tracking system. In addition, it allows you to operate the Xbox through voice commands for basic functions. Plus, it has motion-enabled menu navigation as there are no physical controllers.

On the downside, Kinect requires you to stay at least 6-8 feet away from it in order to be recognized by the device. Moreover, there should be no table or any other obstacle in between.

Kinect vs. Move

Comparative analysis of Kinect vs. Move suggests that Microsoft’s Kinect for Xbox 360 is a controller-free peripheral whereas Sony’s PlayStation Move requires a controller wand with an illuminating orb on the top for playing motion control games.

Hence, the biggest advantage of Kinect over Move is that it lets you get immersed in a game by controlling it with your body movements and voice commands, thereby eliminating the need to hold a controller in your hands.

However, enjoying Kinect games requires more floor space in the room than Move because Kinect functions well when you are at least 6-10 feet (preferably more) away from the sensor whereas Move requires about 2 m distance from the PlayStation Eye camera.

Your Shape Kinect Review

Your Shape Kinect review: This is a wonderful fitness game that provides useful feedbacks to help you improve your moves, thereby making your workout more effective. The motion tracking, however, is not accurate at times.

Your Shape: Fitness Evolved Kinect game includes hundreds of exercises. It is divided into three modes, i.e., Personal Training, Fitness Classes and Gym Mode.

The game initially creates your full body profile by measuring your height, shoulder span, limbs length, etc. and suggests an exercise regime accordingly.

You can also choose your own personalized fitness regime but you cannot choose the exercises. In fitness classes, you can choose a fitness game like Zen (combination of Tai Chi and Yoga) and Cardio Kickboxing.
